SEC Trial for Do Kown Seek Postponed Until Mid-March
Founder of Terra, Do Kwon, has requested a delay in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) trial against him and his former company in order to attend the trial. Kwon’s legal team has asked the court to postpone the trial due to his ongoing extradition from Montenegro.
The ongoing legal battle between Do Kwon and the SEC has taken a surprising turn as Terra’s founder has requested additional time for the SEC trial. The request was reported by Inner City Press. Kwon’s lawyer has asked a U.S. court to delay the trial due to uncertainties surrounding his extradition from Montenegro. It is anticipated that Kwon may not be able to attend the trial until February or March.
In a letter dated January 11, Kwon’s counsel expressed his desire to attend the trial but stated that it is unlikely he will be extradited until February or March at the earliest. He requested a delay until mid-March or an instruction to the jury explaining his absence.
However, the court has denied Kwon’s request for a delay. Instead, Kwon has asked the judge to instruct the jury regarding his absence and the reasons why he is unable to attend the trial.
The trial is now scheduled to take place at the end of this month. Kwon’s extradition process has faced multiple delays as his legal team successfully appealed a deportation ruling by the Montenegro high court. The court has ordered a retrial due to procedural issues.
In an effort to strengthen their case against Do Kwon, the Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a Terraform ruling in the Binance and Coinbase lawsuit. They are actively working to ensure a favorable outcome in court.
